TAMS Financial Data, 2002-2003

The TAMS MID-SIZE SCHOOL FUNDING FORMULA contributes $150,253,000 additional revenue to 216 mid-size districts.

Under current law, school districts identified as property-wealthy and subject to the requirements of Chapter 41 are not eligible for the mid-size adjustment. Including Chapter 41 districts in the formula will continue to be one of TAMS priorities in the special session on school finance.

To find the amount your district receives because of the TAMS formula, click here. Chapter 41 school districts will need to click here to find the amount your recapture would be reduced once we can convince the legislature to include 41’s. GAP school districts can be found by clicking here. These are the final figures from TEA for the 2002/03 school year. For an explanation regarding the impact models, click here.

If you want to calculate projections for the 2003/04 budget year and/or find the additional TAMS dollars you receive based on your local district data, or in the case of Chapter 41 districts the dollars you would receive if included in the formula, follow this procedure.

  1. Go to your local TEA “Estimate of State Aid” template. You can download a new template from the TEA Website.

  2. Click on Data Entry page

  3. Under District Status in the right column near the bottom, answer ‘Y’ for yes to indicate you are a chapter 41 district.

  4. Make certain that you have not changed any other data.

  5. The dollar difference between the two models is the additional monies you receive because of the TAMS formula.

  6. Chapter 41 districts should be able to do the same procedure in reverse to determine the dollars you will not receive.
