The TAMS MID-SIZE SCHOOL FUNDING FORMULA contributes $177,749,185 additional revenue to 262 mid-size school districts.
Under current law, school districts identified as property-wealthy and subject to the requirements of Chapter 41 are not eligible for the mid-size adjustment. Including Chapter 41 districts in the formula is one of TAMS legislative priorities.
To find the amount your district receives because of the TAMS formula, click here for state aid templates produced by Omar Garcia at Region 13 and accompanying instructions on how to use the templates.
We are grateful to Greg Lewis, Assistant Superintendent for Business from Dumas ISD, for researching and providing the instructions for the Region 13 templates and to the Equity Center for providing us data on mid-size schools.
If you want to calculate projections for the 2003/04 budget year and/or find the additional TAMS dollars you receive based on your local district data, or in the case of Chapter 41 districts the dollars you would receive if included in the formula, follow this procedure.
- Go to your local TEA "Estimate of State Aid" template. You can download a new template from the TEA Website.
- Click on Data Entry page
- Under District Status in the right column near the bottom, answer 'Y' for yes to indicate you are a chapter 41 district.
- Make certain that you have not changed any other data.
- The dollar difference between the two models is the additional monies you receive because of the TAMS formula.
- Chapter 41 districts should be able to do the same procedure in reverse to determine the dollars you will not receive.
