Coalition says “No” to Statewide Property Tax First, thank you for responding to our statewide property tax survey and thank you for contacting your legislators. It worked! Due to time constraints and the coalition’s commitment to the core principles on school finance, the coalition told the senators that they could not support a state property tax at this time. So everything is staying exactly as is. The coalition will continue to work with senators to come up with a win/win for school finance and the state of Texas. It is clear that senators are expressing your viewpoint, so please keep talking to your senator and representative about the importance of the mid-size adjustment. To date nothing has been proposed that would equal the mid-size formula funding or provide for additional money if the mid-size adjustment is taken away. It is up to you to continue to make the point that you depend on this money to provide a quality education to the children who live in your district. Remember you can go to http://www.midsizeschools.org/legislativeinfo.html and under “Special Session” pull up the impact of the mid-size adjustment for 2002-03 by Senate and House District.
